Finollo’s classic handmade shirt

Few know that the history of Finollo began precisely with the shirt.
Our first works as shirtmakers date back to the late 19th century, and it was among needles, threads, and measurements on canvas that our sartorial identity first took shape.

Genoa, a city of the sea and of culture — a natural bridge between Italian and British style — has profoundly influenced our vision of men’s elegance: understated, refined, and above all, never ostentatious.
From these roots, our idea of the shirt evolved over time: a bespoke garment designed to last, with a fit that adapts to both the wearer’s style and physique.

Since the very beginning, when the Finollo workshop took its first steps in the heart of Genoa, time has always been a fundamental ingredient in our tailoring tradition.
Shirts were once created for specific moments of the day — morning, afternoon, or evening — and choosing the right model always meant receiving expert guidance from the shirtmaker.

That’s why crafting a Finollo shirt takes no less than twelve hours of work.

Each step in the process — from start to finish — must be carried out with the utmost care, precision, and, above all, with the right amount of time.

Following time-honored and time-tested rules with care and attention, devoting the necessary time to each garment, has always been our only method of work.

Manufacturing a Finollo shirt means a constant pursuit of the highest precision in service of the perfect fit: beginning with the making of the cloth to verify the precision of the bodice and collar measurements, moving on to full measurement tests on the customer (never less than two) until our strict quality standards are completely achieved.

Never forgetting our logo, discreetly applied to the inside of the shirt, certifying the absolute quality of the product.

Every single part of the shirt is cut by hand, sewn by machine with expert skill, and finished again by hand with small, almost invisible stitches.

Iconic and imitated by many is our “Finollo Neck”, developed by our founder Emanuele Finollo , which features an almost imperceptible angle at the collarbone.

Our founder, driven by a passion for anatomy, sought the perfect fit: he believed every seam should follow the natural lines of the male body.
Thus, the Genova Collar was born — a hybrid between the French and English styles, with an anatomical inclination that follows the shoulder line.

A special collar, the result of careful study of posture and movement, designed to stay perfectly in place on the front panels even as the head turns, without ever losing its shape.

This tailoring solution is what makes it unique: structurally stable, yet soft and comfortable — ready to accompany the wearer throughout the day, from morning to night, without causing discomfort or rigidity.

The finishing touch is the badge: instead of the usual initials, the month and year of delivery are also embroidered.
